Ryder System, Inc. received at patent for Logistics Release, a web-based tool for manufacturing supply chains that pools data from shippers, carriers and consignees. Instructions are grouped for type of pallet, stacking requirements, truck requirements, time window for shipment and time window for delivery.
IBM is developing a system with Caltrans and UC-Berkeley to provide drivers (initially in the San Francisco Bay area) with travel time predictions for their particular commutes. The web-based system uses travel journey histories logged by the user, along with predictive data, to derive a recommended commute that is delivered to the driver before departure via e-mail or SMS text message.
